Collaborative working
LMS.Lernen.Hamburg has various functions that support collaborative learning and working.
Today, over 350 schools are already using the Moodle-based learning management system LMS.Lernen.Hamburg. In the meantime, we have been able to digitise further requirements together with oncampus.

Background
Originally planned as a pilot project for around 16 schools, usage of the digital learning platform grew at a record-breaking pace due to the pandemic and now covers 380 of Hamburg’s state schools (including newly established schools). That equates to over 95% of Hamburg’s state schools! In addition, the State Institute for Teacher Training and School Development and the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (BHH) use the LMS.Lernen.Hamburg.
In January 2020, the learning management system (LMS) for Hamburg’s schools was still in a creative design phase – many ideas and visions for the digital learning of the future were already being exchanged. Accelerated by COVID-19 and the lockdown, the idea quickly turned into a tangible project: instead of a pilot project involving around 16 schools, a state-wide rollout for all of Hamburg's state schools was to be planned. From primary schools, comprehensive schools (Stadtteilschulen) and grammar schools (Gymnasien) through to vocational schools, all pupils were to be given the opportunity to learn and work using LMS.Lernen.Hamburg. And the LI (State Institute for Teacher Training and School Development) also found a new virtual home in LMS.Lernen.Hamburg.
Challenge: One Moodle for all
Normally, Moodle creates ONE learning platform with ONE design for ONE application area. Not so with the learning management system LMS.Lernen.Hamburg – here there is ‘one Moodle for all„.
Solution: the LMS.Lernen.Hamburg
A learning universe has been developed which can be accessed by all state schools in Hamburg. On the one hand, each school can configure its learning area according to individual preferences, e.g. with its own colours, logo and images.
On the other hand, the system was developed in such a way that materials can be used across different schools and institutions with a single login. For this purpose, a forum has also been set up where school administrators can share their experiences and exchange ideas.
In short: The individuality of the individual schools is preserved, while at the same time the collaborative spirit is promoted!
LMS.Lernen.Hamburg is intended for use in everyday school life and offers teachers a wide range of opportunities to digitally enhance their lessons. Teachers can fill their lesson courses in LMS.Lernen.Hamburg with a variety of digital activities and materials and also spice them up with playful elements – thereby making the learning process for pupils varied and effective. Assessments and quiz tasks can also be built into the courses, and interactive features such as forums and chats are ideal for promoting collaboration and discussion.
Result: A diverse learning management system
The result is digital education at its best: a diverse learning management system that is enjoyable for learners and teachers alike – made by oncampus! We are thrilled to be able to help shape digital learning in Hamburg's schools together with the Hamburg Authority for Schools and Vocational Training! Full steam ahead!

Outlook: BSB cooperation
LMS.Lernen.Hamburg continues to undergo extensive further development in cooperation with the Hamburg Ministry for School Education and Vocational Training. For instance, there is now a digital examination archive, technically developed by oncampus, and the educational and subject framework plans have also been digitised. oncampus is proud to be at the forefront of this digital educational revolution and looks forward to continuing its collaboration with the Hamburg Ministry for School Education and Vocational Training to shape the future of learning together.
